To fully utilize its forestry resources, BFC operates a pole treatment plant, an integrated charcoal production facility with retort kilns,a charcoal briquetting plant and a sawmill plant.
We believe that plantation forests can provide important economic and ecological value and can relieve the pressure on natural forests if managed responsibly.
BFC has established responsibly managed forest plantations, growing trees to generate carbon credits and bio-energy as well as raw materials for the manufacture of quality wood products.
BFC is involved in the global compliance and voluntary carbon markets. Bukaleba forest project which was developed under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS).
The company has implemented several activities in those communities focusing on health, education, improved livelihoods and promotion of alternative income generation activities.
Busoga Forestry Company (BFC) Ltd. is a commercial forestry plantation company and a subsidiary of Green Resources AS (GRAS) of Norway, Africa’s leading Forestation Company and a leader in East African wood processing. GRAS owns over 44,000ha of standing forest in Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda, established through its own planting activities. It also operates sawmills, transmission pole treatments and charcoal plants in Uganda and Tanzania.
BFC, under the 49-year renewable tree planting licenses, has established forest plantations on 4,610 ha in Bukaleba CFR and 1,989 ha in Kachung CFR in Mayuge and Dokolo districts respectively. The company uses wood from existing and new plantations to produce high-value-added products based on the needs of its customers.readmore
